Sun Hang Do Martial Arts

Born July 8, 1952 in the farming village of Dong Chon in the Chun Nam Province of South Korea, Grand Master grew up surrounded by martial arts. At the age of 9, he began training under his brother, a Tae Kwon Do and Boxing instructor, and soon began competing between neighbouring villages. Excelling in physical activities at a young age it was clear that Jin Kang would prove to be and incredible athlete and extremely successful.

Beginning his first formal training during his school years in an art called Chang Moo Kwan, yet another area where he proved his adequacy; Grand Master would quickly be recognized for his skill and began teaching by the age of 16 years old.

It was during his early adult years in which he was introduced to Kung Fu. After defeating his Kung Fu chief instructor in a sparring match he was promoted by the school master and given the title of instructor. The next two years were filled with specialized weapons and technique training.

At 20 years old Grand Master decided to join the military where he became a member of the Special Forces. In addition to being the number one marksman Grand Master was hired as the Chief Self-Defence instructor for the Special Forces.

After leaving the military Grand Master moved to Seoul, South Korea where he continued to teach Tae Kwon Do until moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1980 where he proceeded to do the same. It was not until a trip in 1984 that Grand Master first experienced and fell in love with the beautiful West Coast. After moving to Vancouver, B.C., Grand Master began to dream of a perfect martial art.

Five years later his dream was realized with the creation of Sun Hang Do the Complete Martial Art.

Still today Grand Master continues to teach and share his knowledge
